About The Space
Welcome to Whispering Woods Cottage, a peaceful lakeside retreat tucked away on the quiet shores of Barnum Lake just minutes from Haliburton Village. Surrounded by towering trees, abundant wildlife, and 285 feet of natural shoreline, this four-season cottage is the perfect escape for guests looking to reconnect with nature without giving up the convenience of nearby shops, restaurants, and attractions. Whether you’re watching loons drift across the lake at sunrise or spotting deer from the gazebo, every day brings a new opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors.
The cottage comfortably accommodates up to eight guests across four inviting bedrooms and three full bathrooms, making it an excellent choice for families or small groups. Inside, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi, Smart TV, air conditioning, onsite laundry, and both an electric fireplace and wood stove to keep the cottage cozy in every season. Fresh linens, towels, duvets, and other essential comforts are provided, allowing you to settle in and start enjoying your stay from the moment you arrive. Best of all, your four-legged family members are welcome too.
Outside, there’s plenty of room to spread out and play. The expansive lawn stretching from the cottage to the lake is ideal for soccer, lawn games, picnics, and family activities, while the shallow, warmer waters near the dock make swimming enjoyable for guests of all ages. Paddle across the peaceful lake by kayak, rowboat, paddleboard, or pedal boat before heading to the floating dock for a refreshing swim or afternoon in the sun. Kids will love fishing from the dock, where catches are frequent, while evenings are best spent gathered around the fire pit or relaxing in the gazebo as birds and wildlife pass by.
The surrounding Haliburton Highlands offer something to discover throughout the year. Explore nearby hiking trails, the Haliburton Sculpture Forest, Barnum Creek Nature Reserve, and the Wolf Centre, or visit the local turtle rescue, beaches, playgrounds, and bike rentals just minutes away. Winter brings snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, downhill skiing at Sir Sam’s, and ice fishing right on the lake. Whether you’re seeking outdoor adventure, peaceful days immersed in nature, or simply a quiet place to recharge, Whispering Woods Cottage offers a getaway that feels refreshingly unhurried in every season.

Our family had a memorable weekend at this cottage- its such a gem! The utter peace and privacy around the cottage and near the water was just what we needed.
We hopped into the car to explore the town and loved how close we were. There was even a deer walking around downtown!
The cottage was spotless and at night with the fireplace on and the quiet, we were so comfortable and at home. There were five deer watching us from beyond the deck that night- what a thrill! We made amazing memories and cannot wait to go back!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Whispering Woods cottage! From the moment we booked with Tall Pine Consulting Services, the owner was incredibly responsive and made sure we had everything we needed for a seamless trip. The cottage itself was perfect—well-equipped with everything one could possibly need, making it feel like a home away from home. One of the highlights of our stay was having a family of deer visit the property multiple times. It was such a magical experience to watch them from the porch!
The swimming dock was a big hit with the kids and our pup, and we had so much fun jumping in and relaxing by the water. We also enjoyed countless hours of ping pong matches in the games area—definitely a great way to spend quality time together.
The town of Haliburton is lovely, and the location of the cottage is perfect—close enough to easily explore the town, but far enough away to feel peaceful and secluded. Overall, this was an unforgettable family getaway, and we highly recommend this cottage for anyone looking for a relaxing and fun retreat.
