About The Space
Welcome to The Beaver Den, a secluded four-season retreat tucked away on two private acres along the peaceful shores of Drag Lake in the Haliburton Highlands. Surrounded by mature forest with no nearby neighbouring cottages, this hidden gem offers a truly tranquil escape where nature takes centre stage. Just a three-minute walk from a beautiful sandy public beach and with direct waterfront access for fishing and paddling, it’s the perfect destination for guests seeking privacy without sacrificing comfort. Whether you’re watching the sunrise from the dock or listening to the sounds of the forest in the evening, every moment here invites you to slow down and unwind.
The cottage comfortably accommodates up to six guests across three spacious bedrooms and two full bathrooms, making it ideal for families or small groups. Inside you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and safe drinking water, high-speed Wi-Fi, Smart TVs, air conditioning, onsite laundry, and thoughtful touches for families travelling with young children, including a crib, pack and play, high chair, stroller, stair gate, toys, and a dedicated toddler play area. Pet-friendly accommodations mean your furry companions can enjoy the adventure too.
Outdoor living is what makes The Beaver Den so memorable. Spend your days fishing from the oversized T-shaped dock, exploring the quiet waters by canoe, pedal boat, or rowboat, or relaxing on one of the spacious lakeside decks overlooking the trees. A charming pathway illuminated with twinkle lights leads to the fire pit, creating the perfect setting for evenings under the stars. Wildlife is part of everyday life here, with frequent sightings of deer, foxes, turtles, and the resident beavers that inspired the cottage’s name. Because Drag Lake is non-motorized and disconnected from the main lake, the peaceful atmosphere remains one of the property’s greatest treasures.
When you’re ready to venture beyond the cottage, Haliburton is only fifteen minutes away, offering restaurants, grocery stores, cafés, shopping, and everyday essentials. The surrounding area is packed with year-round activities, including fishing charters, boat rentals, hiking, skiing, dog sledding, snowshoeing, art galleries, and the renowned Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve. Whether you’re enjoying a quiet morning surrounded by birdsong, spending the afternoon exploring nearby lakes, or ending the day beside a crackling fire beneath a canopy of stars, The Beaver Den offers an authentic cottage experience where nature truly feels close at hand.
