About The Space
Welcome to The Ark, a classic waterfront cottage perched just twenty feet from the crystal-clear shoreline of McKellar Lake. Nestled in the peaceful surroundings of McKellar Township, this four-season retreat offers an authentic cottage experience where the lake is always within sight and only a few steps away. Whether you’re swimming from the dock in summer or enjoying nearby winter recreation, The Ark is designed for families and friends looking to make the most of every season.
The cottage comfortably accommodates up to ten guests, with a maximum of six adults, across three inviting bedrooms, a dedicated bunk room for children, and additional sleeping space in the loft. Two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, unlimited Wi-Fi, Smart TVs, laundry facilities, and a cozy propane fireplace provide all the comforts of home, while a collection of classic board games, DVDs, and family movies ensures there’s always something to enjoy after a day outdoors. Large dining tables inside and out make gathering for meals easy, no matter the weather.
The waterfront is truly the highlight of the property. The clean, deep water is ideal for swimming, fishing, and boating, while the small sandy shoreline gives younger guests a place to play before the lake gradually drops into deeper water from the dock. Two floating docks provide plenty of space to relax in the sun or tie up your boat, and guests can explore the lake by canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard. Evenings are best spent sharing dinner in the screened gazebo before gathering around the fire pit to enjoy the peaceful sounds of the lake.
Beyond the property, you’ll find plenty to explore throughout the year. Boat rentals and a nearby launch make getting out on McKellar Lake effortless, while McKellar Park and its sports facilities are within walking distance for tennis, basketball, and other activities. During the winter months, nearby snowmobile trails and a community skating rink add even more ways to enjoy the area. Whether you’re spending your days on the water, enjoying family game nights, or discovering everything the region has to offer, The Ark delivers the kind of lakeside getaway that guests look forward to year after year.

We had a fantastic weekend at The Ark Cottage in McKellar. The cottage is beautiful and well-organized, comfortably accommodating up to 10 people, while its extra beds and sturdy bunk beds can host up to 16 individuals. Everyone enjoyed a comfortable stay, and the mattresses felt just like those in a hotel. The owner, Tim, is friendly and always available to assist when needed. We spent most of our time outdoors canoeing and kayaking, enjoying many water activities that kept the kids busy and away from their gadgets. Thank you, Shannon, for introducing us to Tim. We love this place and look forward to more adventures in the future!
